CSR Network Zimbabwe donates to the less privileged schools
The Corporate Social Responsibility network Zimbabwe (CSRNZ) donated dust bins and soccer balls to two less privileged schools in the high-density suburb of Kambuzuma as part of its social responsibility outreach program.
Speaking at a handover ceremony of the donation, CSR network Zimbabwe Executive Director Willard Razawo said the network is excited that it is working with the communities.
‘It feels good to be giving to the less privileged school children who are the future of this country as we continue to sing, live and champion sustainability in Zimbabwe’, He said.
The dust bins donation was sourced from the CSRNZ partners which included Telone, Motal-Engil Zimbabwe and the Hardware Store, while the soccer balls donation was sourced from The Short Cat Foundation owned by the United Kingdom based former Zimbabwe National team shot-stopper Japhet Mprarutsa.
Mota-Engil Zimbabwe and the other donating partners said they were happy to be part of this initiative as it is in line with their respective companies’ social responsibility policies.
Cliff Mparutsa who is a trustee of the Short Cat Foundation based in Zimbabwe added that this is one of the many donations the foundation has done to promote grass roots spot in the country as they feel obliged to plough back to the communities where they came from during the playing days of Japhet Mparutsa.
With regards to the bins donation, Our Motto is: let us catch them young so that we can cultivate a culture of zero tolerance to litter as a way of managing waste sustainably, Mr Razawo added.
The bins were donated to Rukudzo primary school, while the soccer balls were shared with the neighbouring Wadzanai primary school.
Before the donation the two respective schools said they had one soccer training ball each and they did not have enough rubbish bins to cater for their litter.
Rukudzo primary school is former home of current soccer legends Dominic Mukandi of Caps United Football Club and Andrew Gwaze former Monomutapa FC winger and Zimbabwe warriors trialist now based in Poland.
