HWANGE – Dinson Colliery (Pvt) Limited, a subsidiary of Tsingshan Holding Group is a leading producer of Coke in Zimbabwe, located at Ward 20 Mpongola Village in Hwange. The company started constructing its Metallurgical Coke Oven Battery in 2019, however its progress was delayed by the Covid-19 pandemic, which later saw the business starting its operations on the 1st of June 2021.
The company invested USD 30 million in its first completed Metallurgical Coke Oven Battery, with the same amount being invested in the construction of the second Metallurgical Coke Oven Battery, which is set to be commissioned before the year end December 2022. The first Metallurgical Coke Oven Battery, produces 150 000 tonnes per year. These production figures are expected to double before the year end December 2022 once Phase two of the Metallurgical Coke Oven Battery has been completed, thus taking the total output to 350 000 tonnes per year. Dinson Colliery has started the construction of Phase three and Phase four of the Mettarllurgial Coke Oven Battery, which will see our production figures going upto 1 000 000 million tonnes per month, thereby becoming the largest Coke Producer in Africa.

Our reason for being is to understand the specific needs and requirements of our customers, so as to provide the most suitable product for their needs.
The company’s growth has resulted in the business employing more than 470 employees, of which 90% being local employees who reside within the villages that are surrounding Dinson Colliery. The number of people employed by Dinson Colliery is set for an increase once Phase 2 has been completed.
Dinson Colliery values the need for employment creation for the local community and support for local companies, as evidenced by the fact that 100% of the coal delivered to Dinson Colliery comes local companies such as Hwange Colliery Company and Zambezi Gas and Coal Mine.
In addition, some of the key projects under Dinson Colliery are Afrochine located in Selous, our sister company which deals with ferrochrome smelting and Dinson Iron and Steel plant located in Chivhu which will be the largest iron and steel plant in Africa.
Our operational processes coupled with Modern technology, are efficient and effective in fulfilling our product scope that include met coke, coke peas, coke nuts, coke breeze and crude tar. Our operations are guided by SHEQ Management Systems based on ISO 9001 Quality Management, ISO 14001 Environmental Management and OHSAS Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems.

- Our Recruitment and Selection policy is embedded on the need of promoting local employment, 90% of the workers at Dinson Colliery are from the villages that are surrounding Dinson Colliery.
- Drilled 2 Boreholes for the Local Community.
- Donated 800 litres of Diesel to the Chilanga Community to Drill a Borehole.
- Assist Community Leaders, government stakeholders and Religious Leaders with Transport and Diesel.
- Relish and veg needs of the Mine are sourced from the community local gardens.
- We partake and donate to different activities of the community. i.e Football tournament sponsorship.
- Construction of Accomodation premises for the local dispersed villagers.
- Christmas Hampers for the local community.
- Monetary donation and branded t-shirts on Clean Up Campaigns.
- Partner with Green Shangano Environmental Trust and Forest Commission to plant tress and preserve the environment.
