PREPARATIONS for the Manicaland corporate social responsibility provincial awards slated for September 13 at Holiday Inn Mutare which will see companies in the province being awarded for outstanding corporate social responsibility programmes are at an advanced stage.
Organisers of the event – Corporate Social Responsibility Network Zimbabwe (CSRNZ) – said this year’s edition comes with seven new categories that include top charitable companies in response to Cyclone Idai.
The event will run under the theme: Shaping responsible business towards the attainment of vision 2030.
Other new categories are business transformation which will award outstanding organisations that have embraced innovative opportunities to develop a sustainable business model for the future; clean energy transition which seeks to celebrate an ambitious strategy which embraces the net-zero mindset and is taking a lead in addressing carbon-impacts across its value chain; circular innovation award which seeks to honour organisations for outstanding innovation that moves the company from a linear to a circular model.
In the plastics innovation category, companies will be awarded for demonstrating a market leading plastics initiative which has created measurable impact through deploying technology or innovation. The sustainable development award will recognise a company initiative or campaign which is best aligning impact to the SDGs and sets industry-leading standards as a company.
CSR Network Zimbabwe executive director, Mr Willard Razawo said entries were coming in fast this year as a result of the new categories.
“We are happy with the response so far especially after the introduction of new categories. Preparations are at an advanced stage and we would like to urge companies operating in Manicaland region to submit a brief of their corporate social responsibility projects for consideration. Entries and nominations close on August 30. The awards recognise excellent sustainability strategies that are transforming business, society and the environment in Manicaland province,” he said.
